THE SITE

Our tipi's are all set in an eight acre field, formerly pastureland for sheep. Although it, and much of Britain’s countryside looks untouched, up until we changed the use, this land had for decades been managed by upland hill farmers.
We still need to keep the boundaries and hedges in order, we still need to cut the grass in certain places at certain times of the year, but there are something’s which we can encourage to the benefit of our visitors.
The first year that we had guests, we noticed how prolific the Wild Orchids were on the field, we then cut back an area of bracken only to discover a carpet of Bluebells growing where the bracken was. This is an example of how careful management of the land encourages the flora and fauna.
We positively encourage the local wildlife and have put up nest boxes and bat boxes (although these guys seem quite happy flying around our shower block and Tipi's without any encouragement)

The site itself is set in a valley on a Welsh Hill farm, and so by its nature has some steep areas, and some marshy or boggy areas, some wooded areas and some rough ground, Often these are the conditions needed by our native plants and we don’t want to upset the delicate balance of nature.
As we like to space out most of our Tipi's we cannot put everyone close to the car park or the shower/toilet block, indeed many of our visitors enjoy the secluded locations of our Tipi’s.
We have tried to put our family Tipi's close to the facilities, and away from the river, and keep the Romantic Tipi's away from the field and close to the river!
We will always try to make sure you get to stay in a Tipi and location most suitable for your needs. Please discuss your requirements with us, before booking!

Access to our site is down a quiet country lane and we would like our guests to respect our neighbours when coming to and leaving the site, it’s not just our human neighbours that we need to be careful for either, as it’s on this lane where we see Badgers most often, crossing the road in front of us at night.

As the rest of our farm is still used to raise stock, please shut all gates that were shut behind you, and if  a gate is left open when you get to it, then please leave it open.
